Imam Moujahed Bakhach of the Islamic Association of Tarrant County offered this prayer:
Good morning. Honorable members of the House, thank you for giving me the opportunity to share with you all this moment. In the name of Allah, the most gracious, the most merciful.
It was revealed in the Holy Qur'an, "Say: Peace is upon you, your Lord has inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy." (6:54)
Our Lord, what a joy and security it is that we pray together. Our Lord, take us out of the darkness of our sins, ignorance, and weakness, and grant us the light of your love, hope, and mercy. Make this city and our whole nation of America a place of hope, peace, and security because you are, O Lord, the source of peace. And from you, the peace comes.
Our Lord, put not upon us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Pardon us and grant us all protection, and have mercy on us. Help us to be the instrument of your love so that others may experience your presence through our actions. Our Lord, help us to hold fast all together to your path, even in these shaky times. Lord, give us wisdom and the courage to face and indeed embrace suffering whenever we encounter it. Lord, you have promised to help us in our time of trouble and need. We rest upon your word.
Our Lord, do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us all from the evil one. Help us to be strong and patient.
Lord, help us to save our nation, our cities, and our lives. Whatever our circumstances are, allow us to stand altogether in the circle of your light and love, and share it with others. In your name we pray. Amen. | | |
