Austin's prime Central Texas location makes it ideal for statewide auditions. Two new television shows, "American Girl" and "Perfect Partners" held open-call auditions at the Omni Hotel. Hundreds of locals showed up looking for their 15 minutes of fame.
"We couldn't pass up Austin, especially with UT here. It's just young, beautiful people walking around, and single looking for dates" said "Perfect Partners" director Brian Nashel.
I think Austin is a great town. It's a very multicultural town. This is a great stop for us," said "American Girl" producer Eden Gaha.
Producers of "American Girl" are the same people who made "American Idol." Casting for that show was also done in Austin.
Although most contestants are looking for a ticket into Hollywood, producers are scouting for something more real.
"I'm down here to show them my stuff, to show them what I do. Hopefully it can lead to something bigger," said contestant Jakquelyn Sullivan.

"We're interested in real people's stories. We're interested in real lives and if anything that's exactly what we're doing," said Gaha.
At the Omni hotel, Director Brian Nashel looked for applicants who will be a good sport at this new reality dating show on the Discovery Channel.
"We're not encouraging people to make out in hot tubs. It's just as much about friends and family hunting for your dates and really the question is "who knows you better, your friends or your family?" he said.
Interested applicants can still audition for "Perfect Partners" at the Omni Hotel Friday and throughout the weekend. Applicants and participating friends and family must be Austin residents.
