Jennifer joined the News 8 Austin team in June 2008 as a weekend anchor and reporter.
Jennifer, an Atlanta, Ga. Native, fell in love with news before she was 10. She started her reporting career in St. George, Utah where she worked as a reporter and TV show host.
When she moved to the northern part of Utah, she worked as a reporter for KTVX in Salt Lake City and covered stories ranging from crazy weather to the controversy surrounding the Crandall Canyon Mine collapse.
She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. While there she worked as a reporter and TV show host for the nationally televised show, BYU Weekly.
She also was an anchor and reporter for KBYU-FM.
While in college she won the prestigious Ed Bradley Scholarship and also was one of 10 students in the nation to receive a scholarship from the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation.
She participated in several internships including her favorite at WSB-TV in her hometown, where she worked along side the reporters who inspired her to be a journalist.
While in Atlanta, she reported and produced for the city's NPR station WABE-FM.
She's received national awards for her coverage of the fifth anniversary of 9/11 from the Society of Professional Journalists, William Randolph Hearst Foundation, Public Radio News Directors Incorporated and the Broadcasters Education Foundation.
Jennifer is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
In her free time she likes to volunteer as a counselor at college preparation programs and act as a mentor to minority youth. She loves to read, watch cartoons, and her new favorite hobby—sewing collars and leashes for her dog, Snoop.
She and her husband are looking forward to exploring Austin and seeing everything this "weird" city has to offer.
