Here are two items that are seldom uttered in the same breath: Librarians and drill teams.
That's right. Meet the Austin Public Library Bibliofiles, a book cart drill team that competes in the Texas Library Association's annual competition.
The Austin Public Library thought it would be fitting to form a book cart drill team to support the city's philosophy of "Keep Austin Weird," as well as support Austin Public Library's own motto "Keep Austin Reading."
It could be said that the team was formed as a creative way to publicize library services, as well as, to eliminate stereotype of libraries and the librarians. It's all about setting a new reputation.

During rehearsal, the Bibliofiles can be heard singing in a very seductive voice, "I want to be your librarian/I want to check out your books."
"Book cart drill teams are taking over the nation and one of the reasons we do it is for publicity," Bibliofiles Captain Anita Rivley said.
It's a more contemporary view of the library and librarians.
