It's not often you'll find state of the art pedicure tools at a table next to designer ear buds and eye drops that cool your eyes after too much computer time. But that was pretty much the theme of the first-ever Peek Media lifestyles event.
The event featured one room filled with a wide variety of technology manufacturers you'd never expect to find together in a single room. There aren't many showrooms that sell the latest video IPod dock right next to a fitness bicycle.
“A normal bike you sit on it, this you stand on it,” said Gary Silva of 3F Bikes. “This bike gets your heart going a lot quicker than your regular bike. You have got to use your upper body for leverage and your lower body, your legs, for leverage also.”
And from bikes with dual purposes to vacuum cleaners trying to double up on duties? On display was a vacuum cleaner with an ultraviolet light built into the bottom to kill germs as you vacuum.
“This is the first and only vacuum cleaner in the world that can disinfect and kill things like dust mites, germs, bacteria, flu virus, fleas, etc instantly while you're vacuuming,” said Ken Garcia of Halo Technologies, which manufactures the vacuum. “UVC is the same technology that's been used in hospitals to disinfect operating rooms, as well as to disinfect the drinking water people drink everyday.”

Those who use instant messaging everyday should meet Meebo -- a website for IMing.
“You don't need to download software or install software to IM your buddies,” said Martin Green of Meebo. “On Meedbo you can get all your buddies from all the major IM networks all in one place. The neat thing about having it on a website is, if you're traveling, going from home to work, if you're on vacation, you can log on to any PC, get all your IM buddies and IM away.”
A warning to those though who think this is a way around the computer administrator at your office, keep it quiet, he can still choose to block the entire Meebo website.
