AUSTIN -- The youngest son of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush continually pushed against an officer who was trying to handcuff him during his arrest on suspicion of public intoxication, according to an affidavit.
John Ellis Bush was arrested by agents of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission early Friday morning on Sixth Street.
The 21-year-old had approached TABC and Austin police officers to ask about an arrest earlier of people he knew.
Officers say he appeared intoxicated and could have posed a danger to himself and others.
Agents didn't know who Bush was until they had arrested him and looked at his driver's license.
During the arrest, Bush suffered a cut on his chin.
Bush was taken to Brackenridge Hospital, where he was treated and released. He was taken to the Travis County Jail and later released.
Public intoxication is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a $500 fine. Resisting arrest is a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail.
