Veronica Castelo transferred to News 8 Austin in April 2005 from our sister station News 10 Now in Syracuse, New York.

Before becoming an Austin-based reporter and weekend morning anchor, Veronica was our Hays and Caldwell County Bureau Chief.

Veronica is a 2006 Texas Associated Press Broadcasters first place winner for continuing coverage. She graduated cum laude from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She's also a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

Before jumping into news, Veronica traveled through Europe and taught English to immigrant children in New York City.

Veronica says working and living in Austin is a treat. She not only gets to tell stories important to Central Texas, but she can keep a close eye on her own hometown of San Antonio.
