A "bigger and better" Wal-Mart is now open in South Austin on the north side of Ben White Boulevard just west of Interstate 35.
The store moved from its old location near Stassney Lane on Interstate 35 to the new Super Center.
In December, Wal-Mart compromised with a nearby neighborhood association to protect Blunn Creek from commercial pollution.
Wal-Mart also agreed to use strict environmental guidelines and retailer promised the new store would meet "the values and standards of the community."
The store held its grand opening celebration Wednesday morning.
The new location has five acres of space and a lot more to offer than the old store.
Nearly 500 people work at the new store.
This is the second new Wal-Mart to open in South Austin in as many weeks. The first is located on I-35 at Slaughter Lane.
