Dell announced Tuesday consumers who buy a new Dimension desktop or Inspiron notebook computer can recycle their old computers for free.
Round Rock-based Dell said the offer begins for U.S. consumers next week.
The measure expands on a free recycling program the company has had for printers since March 2003.
Dell official Michael Rosenstein said the expansion is in reaction to demands from consumers and environmental groups.
Last week, Dell expanded a program where it offers grants to cities for computer recycling events.
