A 44-year-old Elgin man was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison for possession and transportation of child pornography.

David Wayne Copple pled guilty to the charges in February.

Copple had over 5,000 images of child pornography on his computer. All were downloaded from the Internet.

After completing his prison term, Copple will be placed under supervised release for three years.
