News 8 Austin receives election returns from the Associated Press and county clerk offices for local races. The organization and links to the returns is at the top of each page.

County returns pages display a combination of local races, if any, and how voters there cast their ballots for state and national races that affect them.

When looking at a state race within a particular county, for example a U.S. House District race, be aware that the returns reflect how that one county voted. In most cases a state race is voted on by multiple counties. So it may appear as though one candidate won, or lost, yet a different candidate is marked as the winner. This is because the winner is selected based on the entire vote. To see these results, click on the Texas link along the top, and then on the race(s) you're following.
