Time Warner Cable’s News 8 Austin has launched Non-Stop Weather de Noticias Ocho en Español (digital channel 359), a 24-hour station of updated eight-minute weathercasts presented in Spanish. The new channel, the fifth channel in Time Warner’s suite of News 8 services, is available immediately.
Using the same up-to-the-minute weather data provided on News 8 Austin and News 8’s Non-Stop Weather in English (digital channel 358), the station will feature the latest local, state and national forecasts, weather almanac, allergy forecasts and pollen counts, including weather snap-shots in Mexico. News 8 Austin partnered with Weather Systems International’s Spanish-speaking meteorologists to bring News 8’s forecasts and weather data to Time Warner Cable Hispanic subscribers in Central Texas.
“We’ve been developing Non-Stop Weather de Noticias Ocho en Español over the last several months and we look forward to delivering this convenient and reliable service to our Spanish-speaking viewers this spring,” said Brian Benschoter, general manager for News 8 Austin. “ News 8 Meteorologist Burton Fitzsimmons, project manager for the new service explains, “The technology we are perfecting here in Austin will become the model for providing local weather information to Hispanic and Latino viewers in other communities served by Time Warner Cable.”
News 8 Austin provides 24-hour local news and weather on channel 8 exclusively to the customers of Time Warner Cable. News 8 also offers Time Warner customers:
