Bob is a veteran journalist and communications professional who's also a proud native Texan with a career that spans the state.
Bob graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with a degree in journalism.
He began his career like most journalists - in small markets. His first on-air position was as a one-man-band for the CBS affiliate in Sherman. It wasn't long before he moved on to Abilene, where he worked for both the ABC and CBS affiliates as a reporter and morning anchor. While there, Bob garnered several awards, including the Texas AP Television Broadcasters' First Place Award for Best Investigative Reporting.
After a couple of years, Bob accepted a position in Wichita Falls as the sole anchor and news manager for a Top 40 radio station. Airing daily radio news reports was a first for a station of its kind in that market, and Bob managed to significantly increase overall ratings for the station.
From there, Bob saw an opportunity to hone his journalistic skills and set his sights on Austin. He worked for the ABC television affiliate as a reporter and producer. Bob won another Texas AP Television Broadcasters' award for producing the winning entry for Best Television Newscast.
Later, Bob decided to see how the other half lived by going into public relations. After a successful run at PR, He realized that television news was his sole love and returned to the business in January 2005 as a general assignments reporter and anchor for News 8 Austin. He's ecstatic to be back to his first love and hopes to continue growing within the industry.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob loves to hike, rock climb, and jet ski (when he can get his hands on one). He loves to sing, and before embarking on his journalism career, sang professionally.
