Goodwill Weigh Good Donation
News 8 Austin was a sponsor in helping people clean out their closets, garage and sheds for the 8th annual Weigh Good Donation Drive. The success of this drive helped put the unemployed back to work in central Texas, fulfilling Goodwill's mission to provide jobs for people in need.

Old Settler’s Roof Top Music
News 8 Austin was proud to sponsor the Old Settlers Music Festival held in Driftwood. Family-friendly Old Settler's encourages children & adults to appreciate & preserve Americana roots music by providing workshops, displays & activities. The successes of the event benefited Capital Area Food Bank, Austin Safe Place, and Camp Fire USA, Balcones Council.

Kars & Kids
Over one hundred vintage and custom cars registered for the event, displaying their uniqueness to all the spectators that turned out. Addition to checking out the cars, families built their own pinewood car for racing and raced in custom peddle cars for a prize. Among the showcase spectators were allowed to vote for their favorite cars.
The first-ever Kars & Kids was a benefit for a handicap-accessible playground at the Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. Sponsor News 8 Austin presented a $10,000 check for the Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas.

Texas Wine & Food Fest
World-renowned superstar chefs for four days of Texas-flavored events reflecting wine and food; News 8 Austin sponsored the event which included cooking classes, wine tasting, and seminars. This was a perfect weekend event that mixed food, music, and a spectacular spring day in the park.

Fine Arts Festival
On these beautiful days in the streets of downtown Austin, Art enthuses viewed local, national and international artists works. The 2005 Fine Arts Festival is considered one of the best in the country. News 8 Austin helped in making this event a success which benefited the Austin Museum of Art of whom brings the visual arts to Austin year around.

SPAMarama
Thousands of people were out in attendance for 27th annual event. News 8 Austin along with viewers and visitors celebrated the day with the SPAM-toss, SPAMcall, taste, sculpt and cooking contests. SPAMarama took place at Waterloo Park on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. This Austin tradition draws thousands of SPAM lovers from around the world.

Zilker Kite Festival
The beautiful green lawn of Zilker park was blanketed with thousands of families and their kites this Sunday for the 77th annual Zilker Kite Festival. The festival was rained out and rescheduled for this weekend and it couldn't have worked out any better. This tradition is one of the longest running festivals of its kind in the nation. News 8 Austin was proud to be a sponsor of this event.

Bagel Fest 5K Run
On this rainy morning News 8 viewers ran the wet race that benefited Any Baby Can and the Dell Jewish Academy scholarship fund and center. It was a successful turnout that included rain, bagels, and running shoes. Bagelfest was a successful neighborhood family event.

Bow Wow
This inaugrial show included weiner dog races, dog dancing contest, singing contest, and look alike contest, was a day truly gone to the dogs. Despite the mud dog lovers along with News 8 enjoyed the day with our best friends. This event benefited the Austin Humane society.

Fertile Hope 5K
The 3rd annual Fertile Hope 5K raised over $100,000 with the help of 700 runners. This benefit helps cancer patients take important steps to perserve their fertility. News 8 Austin was thankful to be apart of this event.

Keep Austin Warm Blanket Drive
News 8 Austin, Time Warner Cable and 7-11 teamed up for Keep Austin Warm, a blanket drive for the Salvation Army of Central Texas. All donations go the Salvation Army who will help distribute the goods. The blankets were given to needy families, children and anyone who visits the homeless shelter and needs a blanket.
Central Texans donated a record 3,400 blankets, which is more than double the amount collected last year

Celtic Festival
More than 6,000 people celebrated everything Celtic at Fiesta Gardens for the largest gathering of Celtic artists in Central Texas. The picture-perfect fall day helped bring out a record crowd for the two-day festival which featured live music, food, highland games and more. This was the second year News 8 Austin sponsored the event.

Earth Science Day
News 8 meteorologists Burton Fitzsimmons and Rich Segal participated in Earth Science Day at the J.J. Pickle Center. The team ordered up a perfect high pressure fall day where more than 350 middle school students learned about several types of sciences including meteorology. Students from Pflugerville Middle School got quite a treat as they participated in the 12:08 LIVE weathercast. The kids also learned about how Storm Cruiser 8 gathered weather data.

Light the Night
More than 2,000 walkers participated in the annual event, that's twice the number from last year. Red balloons dotted the Dell Diamond for support and white balloons illuminated the night sky for those who have beaten the odds with lukemia or lymphatic cancers. Donations exceeded $230,000 which is four times the amount raised three years ago. The money will fund blood cancer research. News 8 Austin sponsored the event for the first time.

Austin City Limits Music Festival
It's was makes Austin "Austin." Hot weather and live music. The three-day music festival showcased more than 130 bands at Zilker Park and for the first time in the three year history the event was sold out on Saturday. In all, more than 200,000 music lovers took in endless performances across several park stages. News 8 Austin was the official media sponsor.

American Cancer Society Fashion Show
News 8 Austin's Fashion Reporter Cheryl Bishop emceed the kick-off luncheon and fashion show for the Austin Cancer Society's holiday shopping card campaign. Models for the show, all cancer survivors, wore fashions from Austin boutique Shiki.

Austin Museum Day
Nearly 30 Austin-area museums and educational institutions that explore the worlds of science, history and art, opened their doors for free for the day for the seventh year. More than 25,000 visitors enjoyed the day, that's 10,000 more than last year. For a second year News 8 Austin sponsored the event.

Texas Classic Car Show
From hot rods to antique cars there was something for every car lover to see at the annual Texas Classic Car Show. The heat also didn't keep more than 8,000 people from going down memory lane or see cars of the future. One hundred percent of the registration and vendor proceeds from the show went to the Make A Wish Foundation. This was the first year News 8 Austin sponsored the event.

Weigh Good Donation Drive
Goodwill Industries held the last of two Weigh Good donation drives for 2004. Clothing and household items were donated and dropped off at any of the 32 Goodwill locations or at corporate drop-off locations to help meet their 200,000 pound goal. News 8 Austin was the media sponsor for the fourth year in a row.

Fill-A-Cable Truck
Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin held the last Fill-A-Cable truck night at the Dell Diamond to benefit the Austin Children's Shelter pre-school. Fans brought school and art supplies to the Round Rock Express game and in return they received a free ticket to the game. The Austin Children's Shelter helps children ages birth to 17 years old. Each year ACS provides care to approximately 300 children.

Child Safety Fair
Highland Mall's Child Safety Fair brought families together to learn about safety. Parents received free child I.D. kits issued by law enforcement officials, kids met Hardy the bomb sniffing dog and toured the Austin Fire Department's fire safety house. When the kids completed their safety tour throughout the mall, they received a free backpack. More than 600 youngsters were fingerprinted and more than 400 received a new backpack, just in time for school. This was the second year News 8 Austin sponsored the event.

Hip Flip Fashion Event
A dozen female media personalites put their design hats on and competed in the first Hip Flip Fashion Event at Highland Mall. Each gal created a fun, original design on a pair of white flip flops. Shoppers voted and News 8's Erica Riggins took away the top honor and Fashionably 8 reporter Cheryl Bishop was awarded third place. Erica presented a $1,000 check to the chairity of her choice, The Settlement Home on behalf of Highland Mall.

Fill-A-Cable Truck
Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin held Fill-A-Cable truck night at the Dell Diamond to benefit the Capital Area Reach Out and Read program. Fans brought new or gently used children's books to the Round Rock Express game and in return they received a free ticket to the game. The Reach Out and Read program distributes nearly 30,000 books a year to Central Texas clinics for parents and children to enjoy. Nearly 600 books were collected.

Blast Off Aerospace Camp
For the kick-off day of the Blast Off Aerospace Camp campers got up close and personal with everything "aerospace." The playground at Blanton Elementary School was turned into a launching pad for model rockets and an Army helicopter. News 8 Austin's Burton Fitzsimmons held a weather seminar for the kids and showed off News 8's Storm Cruiser computer weather technology.

Zilker Park Fireworks
There was no shortage of patriotism by the Austin community for the annual Zilker Park fireworks spectacular. An estimated 100,000 people enjoyed family picnics, patriotic music performed by the Austin Symphony Orchestra and the fabulous display of fireworks. News 8 Austin's Erica Riggins served as mistress of ceremonies and host for the live broadcast.

Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin held Fill-A-Cable truck night at the Dell Diamond to benefit the Austin Humane Society. Fans brought all types of pet food or pet toys to the Round Rock Express game and in return they received a free ticket to the game. In all, enough food was collected to feed needy cats and dogs for a week.

Splash Party Movie Night
Every Saturday night through August, Deep Eddy Pool hosted Splash Party Movie Night. Hundreds of swimmers found out it was a cool way to beat the summer heat while enjoying a fun family movie. This was the first year News 8 Austin sponsored the event.

Time Warner Cable and News 8K held the second annual run and walk in downtown Austin. The race continued with the "Easy Rider" theme complete with the Central Austin Harley Owner's Group. The group"reved"up a good time for all. Proceeds from the event benefited the Capital Area Food Bank.

2004 Women of Distinction Luncheon.
News 8 Austin's Erin Ochoa was the emcee for the annual Women of Distinction Girl Scout luncheon. The event honored eight outstanding women in the Austin community. More than 600 people attended. Time Warner Cable was a sponsor.

For The Love of Christi Memorial 5K
News 8 Austin was proud to be the media sponsor for the second annual memorial walk at Old Settler's Park in Round Rock. Runners and walkers took to the 5K course in memory of loved ones lost despite the circumstances. Participants also enjoyed live music and prizes. The For Love of Christi organization was founded in 1987 and helps kids and adults adjust to life after the death of a loved one.

Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin held Fill-A-Cable truck night at the Dell Diamond to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. Fans brought three canned food items to the Round Rock Express game and in return they received a free ticket to the game. In all, nearly 1,000 pounds of food was collected and 300 tickets were handed out.

Cut-A-Thon for CASA
This year's annual Cut-A-Thon for CASA was the most successful to date raising $25,000. Stylists from several Austin salons volunteered their services at the Jackson Ruiz Salon for the event. Clients received new spring haircuts and enjoyed hand massages, make-up touches and manicures. Clowns from Girl Scout Cadette Troop 1170 were also on hand and took donations from drivers and painted kids faces while moms got their hair cut. This was the first year News 8 Austin sponsored the event and will return for the 2005 Cut-A-Thon.

North Oaks Elementary Career Day
News 8 Austin meteorologist Rich Segal spend the morning with fifth graders talking about what it takes to get into television and the duties of his job at News 8. This is the second year in a row News 8 Austin has participated in the event.

Shiner BASH
Bicyclists from Austin, San Antonio and Houston took to the road for a three-point convergance to historic Shiner, Texas. The more than 85-mile ride helped raise money for The American Lung Association. Time Warner 24-hour news stations News 8 Austin, News 9 San Antonio and News 24 Houston were the media sponsors.

Cap 2K Town Lake Swim
Nearly 200 swimmers took the plunge in Town Lake on May 15 to take part in the second annual Cap 2K Town Lake Pledge Swim sponsored by News 8 Austin and Time Warner Cable. It was a great morning for a dip and also brought out Austinites to cheer on swimmers from the banks of the lake and from the Lamar Street bridge. The Cap 2K Town Lake Pledge Swim raised money for the Deep Eddy Bathhouse Restoration Project. Deep Eddy Pool is the oldest public pool in Texas.

Taste of Mexico
Hundreds of people gathered in downtown Austin to taste great Mexican food at the 5th Annual Taste of Mexico. More than 40 restaurants prepared authentic Mexican cuisine for the event. Attendees also enjoyed live music, dancing and a made bids at the silent auction. Proceeds benefitted the Mexic-Arte educational programs. News 8 Austin was the media sponsor for the event.

Barsana Dahm Mela
News 8 Austin's Jitin Hingorani hosted the 5th annual Barsana Dahm Hindu Temple's "Mela," or festival, on April 24. Festival goers enjoyed Indian music, dance exhibitions, traditional Indian food and vendors sold authentic saree fabric and jewelry. There were elephant rides, moon walks and a super stilt man who made balloon animals for the kids. Nearly 4,000 attended the annual festival despite morning showers. The festival was orignally organized as an open house to inform the community about the Hindu religion. It has turned into a fun festival for all religions to enjoy.

Buda Kite Festival
Storm Cruiser 8 headed south to the city of Buda for the first Buda Kite Festival. It was a fun day for kids with face painting, a bubble station and great wind to fly their kites. Awards were given out in several categories and the News 8 Austin kite took first place for most original kite.

Career Day
News 8 Austin meteorologist Rich Segal and Fashionably 8 reporter Cheryl Bishop took part in Wallace Middle School's Career Day (located in Kyle, Texas). The kids asked questions about careers and what it took to do the job. Volunteers included local fire and police personnel, the secret service, cosmetology instuctors, teachers, government employees and local media personalities.

Old Settler's Music Festival
Central Texas' signature Bluegrass and American Roots music festival returned to the Salt Lick Pavillion for a three-day outdoor music and camping experience. More than 25 bands entertained the crowd and kids were busy with activities of their own. This was the first year News 8 Austin sponsored the festival.

Weather Presentation
News 8 Austin meteorologist Rich Segal traveled to Zilker Elementary and spoke to more that 75 second-graders about weather and weather safety. The kids learned about all the colors of the radar used in the News 8 weather center and how to be safe in a tornado situation. They also got to see the equipment on-board Storm Cruiser 8.

Gridiron Heros Benefit Concert
News 8 Austin sponsored the spring concert of the season! Tim McGraw and Billy Bob Thronton took to the Auditorium Shores stage despite a delay because of a thunderstorm. Special guest Faith Hill also joined the duo. News 8 Austin anchor Erica Riggins co-hosted the show with meteorologist Burton Fitzsimmons. Burton did manage to get the rain out of the area for the remainder of the concert. Grid Iron Hereos offers financial support to young men and their families who have ben impacted by spinal cord injuries.

SPAMARAMA
It’s considered the biggest potted pork party on the planet. Nearly 7,000 people from all over the country converged on Waterloo Park to partake in the annual rite of spring, SPAMARAMA 2004. Several of Austin’s finest chefs distributed all types of SPAM concoctions from green eggs and SPAM, fried SPAM and SPAM queso over chips. The SPAMAlympics included the SPAM toss, the Texas A&M vs. Texas SPAM relay, the SPAM call and the popular SPAM eating contest. Proceeds benefit Disability Assistance of Central Texas. News 8 Austin was the media sponsor for the event and will return in 2005.

Senior Appreciation Gala
Midday Anchor Paul Brown has more talent than just anchoring the news. He not only served as master of ceremonies for the annual Time Warner Cable's Senior Appreciation Gala but also danced the official first dance, a waltz, with a party attendee. The theme was Golden Age of Hollywood. Seniors age 55 and up danced to all types of music and watched vintage movie clips while enjoying elegant desserts prepared by the Hilton Austin.

Zilker Park Kite Festival
News 8 Austin meteorologists forecasted a picture perfect day for the 76th annual Zilker Park Kite Festival on Sunday, March 7. Nearly 15,000 kite enthusiasts of all ages enjoyed music, kite demonstrations and live entertainment for the whole family. Kids made homemade kites and competed in the 50-yard kite dash and enjoyed an afternoon picnic with family and friends. Other categories included highest kite, smallest kite and most unusual kite. Proceeds from the event benefitedt the Exchange Club of Austin. The Zilker Park Kite Festival is the longest continuous running kite festival in the United States. News 8 Austin/Time Warner Cable has sponsored the event for the past four years and will sponsor the event in 2005.

Read Across America
News 8 Austin on-air talent and staff helped celebrate Dr. Seuss's 100th birthday. Meteorologists Rich Segal, Burton Fitzsimmons, reporter Erin Ochoa and master control staffers Meghan Dever and Karen Chan read Dr. Seuss books to several South Austin's St. Elmo Elementary classes for Read Across America Day. The national reading campaign has community leaders read to elementary-aged children for 30 minutes. News 8 Austin has participated in the campaign for the past three years.

Fill-A-Cable Truck
News 8 Austin and Time Warner Cable hosted the first Fill-A-Cable Truck event of the year at the "Bat Cave." Hockey fans donated pet items for needy cats and dogs housed at the Humane Society of Travis County. In return, fans received a free ticket to that afternoon's game. Nearly 300 tickets were handed out.

Keep Austin Warm Blanket Drive
Austin's elderly will stay a little bit warmer thanks to thousands of donations made by the community. The News 8 Austin, "Keep Austin Warm Blanket Drive" collected more than 2,000 new robes, blankets and sweaters. Items were dropped off at Wells Fargo Bank branches and distributed by Meals on Wheels and More.

Jingle Bell Ride
Thousands wore their holiday best and took to the streets on two wheels for the 12th annual Jingle Bell Ride.Bikers pedaled through Zilker Park, the Trail of Lights and around Central Austin. It was a treat for all to take in the sights and sounds of a capital city Christmas. The event doubled as a fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank.

Jingle Bell Run
More than 1,000 adults, kids and dogs took part in the annual Jingle Bell 5K. The run benefited the Texas chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. MADD uses the run to reinforce their message not to drink and drive any time of the year. News 8 Austin's Paul Brown and Burton Fitzsimmons emceed the event.

Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin once again hosted Fill-A-Cable truck at the "Bat Cave." Hockey fans brought three cans of non-perishable food and in return they received a free ticket to that afternoon's game. More than 300 tickets were handed out and 1,101 pounds of food was donated to the Capital Area Food Bank.

Glimmer of Hope Tennis Tournament
World-ranked tennis players from 19 countries battled it out on the Barton Creek Country Club courts at the Glimmer of Hope ATP Challenger. The tournament was a fundraiser for A Glimmer of Hope, an international organization based in Austin. The group started doing relief work in Ethiopia, and now they're working in East and South Austin.

Austin Celtic Festival
Nearly 6,000 people came out to Fiesta Gardens for the largest gathering of Celtic artists in Central Texas. The two-day festival featured live music, food, highland games and everything Celtic. According to the Austin Celtic Association, attendance was up by 1,000 people from 2001. (2002 was rained out.)
News 8 Austin will sponsor the event in 2004.

La Dolce Vita
Austinites enjoyed fine wine and food at the annual La Dolce Vita fundraiser for the Austin Museum of Art. More than $81,000 was raised from the gala event with proceeds benefitting the museum's art school at Laguna Gloria. This year's theme was based on the movie "Roman Holiday." News 8 Austin was the exclusive media sponsor and will participate in 2004.

Earth Science Day
News 8 meteorologists Rich Segal and Scott Prinsen participated in Earth Science Day at the J.J. Pickle Center. On a blustery but clear day, Storm Cruiser 8 gathered weather data to help teach more than 300 middle school students about how weather data is collected.

Barktoberfest
Everybody and their dog came out for the inaugural Barktoberfest and enjoyed live music, food, kids games and costume contests. A tiny Pomeranian decked out in a Dracula costume won scariest pet costume. The super hero winners were a brother and sister lab team dressed in a UT football jersey and cheerleading outfit...(It was perfect since Texas was playing OU that day!) Most creative costume winners went to three Pugs in a tub. The event was held at Griffith Animal Hospital in Cedar Park and benefited the Central Texas SPCA.

Walk to Cure Diabetes
More than 3,000 people participated in the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes at the Dell Diamond in Round Rock. Families, corporate walk teams, including Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin, walked the 5K course through Old Settlers Park. News 8 Austin's meteorologist Randy Ahrens emceed the event. The Walk to Cure Diabetes is the largest single source of national revenue for the organization.

Austin City Limits Music Festival
More than 130 bands entertained the masses at Zilker Park at the second annual ACL Fest. Food, fun and all types of music were enjoyed by more than 155,000 people throughout the three day event.

Memory Walk
The Memory Walk is the nation's number one fundraiser to help those battling Alzheimer's. Austinites laced up their shoes and helped raise money to find a cure for this disease.

Austin Museum Day
Twenty four Austin-area museums and educational institutions that explore the worlds of science, history and art, opened their doors for free for the day. This was the sixth year for the city-wide event with the highest attendance to date.

Classical Music Festival
The Austin Symphony Orchestra, Austin Chamber Music, Austin Lyric Opera, Ballet Austin and many others performed for free on the grounds of the French Legation Museum. This was the inaugural event for radio station KMFA.

Austin Youth Bike Festival
The Austin Youth Bike Festival gave kids and parents the opportunity to learn about bicycle safety. Kids had their bikes checked out for minor repairs, helmets were adjusted for fit and the kids rode through an age-appropriate road course supervised by specially-trained Austin bicycle police officers. Firefighters from the Austin Fire Department were also on hand to give kids an up-close look at the fire truck and News 8's Storm Cruiser 8 was also there. Once the kids completed their road trip they received a goody bag, certificate and snacks.

Charity Fashion Show
News 8 Austin's Fashionably 8 reporter Cheryl Bishop emceed the Rise School of Austin charity fashion show at Roy's Restaurant in downtown Austin. The new school is for children with disabilities and Down syndrome.

Andy Warhol Exhibit
For the first time in Central Texas, Andy Warhol's work was presented at the Austin Museum of Art. More than 80 prints and paintings were on display for three months with 26,000 Austinites touring the exhibit. News 8 Austin was proud to sponsor the event.

Indian Independence Day
News 8 Austin's weekend anchor/reporter Jitin Hingorani co-hosted the Indian Cultural Community Independence Festival at the Round Rock ISD Performing Arts Center. The event celebrated India's 56th year of freedom from British colonial rule. Attendees enjoyed Indian music, dance and traditional food.

The stormy weather and a rain delay didn't dampen the giving spirit of baseball fans for the Time Warner Cable/News 8 Austin Fill-A-Cable truck event. More than 550 books were donated to the Reach Out and Read program, which reinforces parents' teaching roles with their children. This was the third Fill-A-Cable truck event this season.

Mustang Car Show
The Mustang Club of Austin hosted their annual car show at Great Hills Baptist Church. Proceeds from the event benefited Meals on Wheels. Storm Cruiser 8 was on display as well.

Highland Mall's Child Safety Fair
Highland Mall's Child Safety Fair brought families together to learn about safety. Parents received free Child I.D. kits issued by law enforcement officials for use in case of an emergency and safety stations were set up throughout the mall. Once kids completed their safety packet, they received a free backpack. More than 800 area kids received a free backpack, just in time for back-to-school.

City of Austin Swimming Championships
Olympic swimmers and athletes from all around Austin took their mark at Walnut Creek Pool. The event benefited Deep Eddy pool, Texas' oldest public swimming pool. Funds will be used to restore the historic bathhouse.

Cut-A-Thon for CASA
Jackson Ruiz Salon & Body hosted the second annual
Cut-A-Thon for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). A team of stylists from various Austin salons cut hair from 9 am until 6 pm for a $30 donation. More than $5,000 was raised for the organization.

The American Cancer Society hosted Relay for Life at St. Stephens Academy in Westlake.

Convoy to End Hunger
Storm Cruiser 8 was part of more than a mile-long convoy to support National Hunger Awareness Day. The convoy traveled down South Congress to the Tony Burger Center and was met by Capital Area Food Bank executives.

Fill-A-Cable Truck
Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin held Fill-A-Cable truck night at the Dell Diamond to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. Fans brought three canned food items to the Round Rock Express game and in return they received a free ticket to the game. In all, more than 2,600 pounds of food was collected and 600 tickets were handed out.

Summer Movies in the Park
Throughout the summer, Time Warner Cable screened more than a dozen outdoor movies in downtown Austin, Round Rock, Bastrop and San Marcos.

The first Komen Austin Shop for the Cure was held at the Palmer Events Center. More than 100 premier retailers sold art, jewelry, fashionable accessories and home décor items. Proceeds benefited the Austin Susan G. Komen Foundation.

International dance troupes from around the world entertained the crowd at Waterloo Park. Exotic foods were also sampled and crafts were sold to benefit the Austin Red Cross Chapter.

Stamp Out Hunger
Austin area postal workers collected food on their mail routes to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. Food was distributed to more than 300 area agencies.

Dell Children's Museum Luncheon
News 8 Austin's Fashionably 8 reporter Cheryl Bishop hosted the annual Dell Children's Museum Luncheon at the Renaissance Hotel. More than 700 people attended the event and listened to keynote speaker Sylvia Nash, best-selling author of A Beautiful Mind.

Retailers from the North Loop District in Austin hosted "Vintage Hoopla". Proceeds from the event benefited Project Transitions, an AIDS hospice care organization.

Round Rock Express Games
Wednesday and Friday nights were Time Warner Cable and News 8 Austin media nights throughout the Round Rock Express baseball season. News 8 personalities threw out the first pitch, and fans watched weather and player features on the jumbotron.

Time Warner Cable and News 8K held the inaugural run and walk in downtown Austin. The race had an "Easy Rider" theme complete with actor Peter Fonda, who served as the official race starter. The South Austin Harley Owner's Group were also on hand to "rev" up the runners. Proceeds from the event benefited the Austin Film Society.
