View event Web site DESCRIPTION: The tickets are $5.00 and the prizes include a signed professional portrait of Pinetop Perkins and a Fender guitar signed by Pinetop. Pinetop is one of the last remaining members of the Muddy Water’s band. 2009 marks the 23rd year of the Doc & Gayle Young Food Drive. Our goal this year is to raise $35,000 to feed 1,100 Austin families this Thanksgiving! 100% of all collected funds go toward the purchase of food. No actual food is collected during the drive; just financial donations. Volunteers are involved in 100% of the drive so we do not have any administrative costs. Volunteers’ hand-deliver all food packs around Austin on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The food that is delivered will feed a family of five for several days; the families we feed have homes and the ability to cook but do not have the money to buy a Thanksgiving meal because of other expenses like clothing or other necessities.
Our Food Drive benefits local families through the Austin Housing Authority, Rainbow Room (Texas Department of Family and Protective Services) and Safe Place.To date 9,887 families have benefited since 1992. (Data for previous years not available.)

The City of Austin plans to have the Nueces Bike Boulevard opened by late spring. The boulevard would be a multi-use path where car traffic is discouraged. How do you feel about this?
I think this is a great idea, we need more roads like this
